Logan's Bio - Information

 

Logan Hawkes is a writer, publisher, broadcaster, videographer and dual resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and South Padre Island, Texas, reflecting his equal passion for the alluring mountainous west and a deep appreciation and fascination for the ancient sea and natural histories of the regions.

 

Hawkes is managing editor and partner of Lost Planet Media, an online and print magazine publishing company, whose publications include Texas Less Traveled, Mexico Less Traveled, Winter Texans Online, and other specialty magazines. In addition, Lost Planet is a content provider and film editing and production company serving Penton Media Magazines, Time Warner’s America Online, and others.

 

Lost Planet also produces audio books and provides voice-over services to the broadcast and publishing industry. In addition, Lost Planet produces two national award videos each year for Penton Media, the annual High Cotton Awards and the annual Peanut Profitability Awards. Hawkes also has served as a guest and contributor to the History Channel.

 

Hawkes is the author/producer and narrator for an ongoing audio docu-series, "Ancient Mysteries of the Americas", and the author of other history-based stories and docudramas. An experienced travel writer specializing in historical destinations, Hawkes has hosted a successful nationally syndicated radio talk show, “Travel Quest”, and has served the radio broadcast industry for 30 years as show host, programmer, writer and producer in various U.S. markets including Santa Fe. A dedicated student of Meso-American and North American native mythology and history, he has organized and hosted archaeological field schools in Mexico, Belize and Guatemala for the University of Texas and Auburn University. He also serves as a researcher and author of unexplained mysteries and historical phenomena.

 

As a writer, Hawkes was the recipient of the 1989 Hearst Writer's Award, has been published in magazines and trade journals and has served as a journalist, bureau chief, and executive editor of newspapers in Texas and served as a syndicated writer for major newspapers across the Southwest. Hawkes is also the video producer for all eleven of Penton Media’s Agriculture magazines and web sites and is editor for the largest and oldest agriculture weekly e-letters, Crop News Weekly.

 

When not living on the Pojoaque Pueblo Reservation North of Santa Fe, he spends his time near the beach on South Padre Island with his partner and wife Carla Land, his travel show co-host, and his youngest son who serves the gaming industry as a voice actor.
